And... they're off!

First day of NaNoWriMo - check!

I was aiming to break the 1,666 mark - gently does it. I managed 1842 before I got to the end of my creative tether. My novel is set in 1857, so I probably should have held out for another 15 words just for the symbolism, but my love of symbolism is no match for my inherent laziness.

My favourite snippet from today's mad typing spree:

She pressed her lips together. It was so like Abbott. He prided himself on being a professional, yet he had a sense of recklessness, a taste for risk. It put Ella in mind of a child, a boy on the back of a makeshift hobbyhorse, hurtling his way down a staircase. How his mother must have caught her breath to see little Abbot skipping down the stair risers, one simple stubbed toe away from falling, one misstep from tumbling and breaking his neck.

Hi Charlotte! I just wandered over from AbsoluteWrite, and I'm excited to explore your blog. Good luck with NaNo! (I'm too intimidated to try!) :)

Hi LisaAnn! Welcome to my blog :)
NaNo can be a bit intimidating, but once you start it's addictive...
By the way, I love the photos on your blog - you certainly do have an amazing job!

He he he...my love of symbolism is no match for mine, either. Looks great, you're coming right along!

Thanks Jes :) I'm going to try to get a few extra words on the weekend so I have a cushion for the day(s) when it will inevitably turn to custard!
